Lotus Birth Herbs

$16.16

Having a lotus birth is a sacred ceremonial experience for you and your baby after giving birth. The herbs used in our lotus birth blend are curated with love and intention.

A Lotus Birth is the practice of leaving the placenta attached to the baby until the umbilical cord separates naturally. Exactly as a cut cord does 3-10 days after birth. This blend of herbs is formulated to keep the placenta clean and aromatic with its anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties.

Benefits of a Lotus Birth include

Increases blood volume and allows more blood to transfer from the placenta to the baby. This has the ability to improve blood circulation, body temperature, red blood cell count, immunity and brain development.

Lessens the risk of infection

Faster healing of the umbilicus

Reduces trauma and reinforces the gentleness of a natural birth

Enhances baby's emotional well being by making the transition from the womb more comfortable

In addition to your herbs you will need:

2 cups of pink Himalayan sea salt

4 cotton sheets or chux pad to wrap the placenta in

1 small cotton bag to wrap the placenta in

Directions

Once the placenta has been birthed, rinse it. Pat the placenta dry and place it in a cotton sheet. Place that cotton sheet in a dry bowl. Cover the placenta with the two cups of salt, making sure both surfaces are fully covered. Proceed to add your herbs, gently patting and rubbing the herbs in.

Cover the placenta, salt, and herbs with the cotton sheet, cloth diaper or chux pad and place into the cotton bag. During the first 24 hours make sure to check and replace the cotton sheet or chux pad if needed. These can get wet and humid, so you’ll want to replace them. The most important thing is to keep the placenta dry and cared for while still attached to baby.
